About Carthagena Learning Academy (CLA)

Carthagena Learning Academy, originally named Carthagena Basic School, was founded by the late Millicent Reece in 1962.  It was a christian school that was affiliated with the Granville Church of God of Prophecy, under the stewardship of the late Bishop Leonard Reece. It was an early childhood institution. Mrs. Reece's  goal was to provide a solid educational foundation for students, so that they could reach their highest potential. She did not only emphasize academia, but stressed the importance of being Little Angels for Christ. Today, her legacy lives on, as her biological children, most of whom are educators, seek to help students reach their highest potential. Carthagena Learning Academy provides virtual and in-person tutoring to students from Pre-K to High School. Our certified tutors teach students to think independently and critically, to build problem solving skills and to develop a craving for learning. Students are considered for services based on teacher/parent referral, academic review, supplemental testing, and verbal/non-verbal students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP).
